As a workhouse dabbler I attended events throughout the entire year.
*The theatre is a hidden gem with quite a bit of up and coming pre professional actors. Check out the show options, they always seem to try one "kid" show a year.
*Art galleries events are fun to attend once a year. Pick one that sounds like your personality.
*They are always expanding, growing, and changing. Which can cause growing pains. But the venue is historical, and budget is based on a lot of different factors.
*If they still have the farmers market it was fantastic, and the popcorn guy was delicious.

Visited 11/2/24 I was in the area visiting the other side of the old prison the liberty crest apartments. I'm thankful Fairfax county purchase the Lorton prison property and turned it into the art center. It was free and able to view different type of artwork. The even offer art classes. There is a cafe on site. I didn't like the viewing of the cell blocks in the Lucy Burns museum because it cost $5. Paying to go inside the cell blocks to sit on the beds, touch the sink the toilet or the bars is insane. Also incredibly insensitive for the people who were forced to live in these conditions because of their negative past.

Wonderful use of space as it was a womens' prison. Great works of art and friendly artists that shared with me their passion.

2 stars don't waste your time reading the reviews they made me think this was scary......IT IS NOT they gave n effort but overall the worst one I've been to even with my kids. It was lengthy yes that was a good thing but, couldn't see where we were walking not worth the $75 for three. We also drove an hour to get here and we'll have to drive an hour back if you live out of town it's not worth coming to. The place overall is a great place to come to look at all the artwork but don't waste your money coming here for the Halloween Walk unless you're a local even then it's not worth it. Waiting till next week to go to darkwood. Will not return again, the scare of the end was okay

I did not find this trail scary and felt it could have been done a lot better! And another side note - there was a worker that kept making fun of me in a hurtful way and I thought that was super rude. Especially when she kept calling me the girl “with the big forehead” and little did she know I was in bed all week sick from a health condition and have been losing my hair lately and pulled myself together to try to get out and have the haunted house cheer me up. Just thought that was super uncalled for!

It was cute and the costumes and sets were great and you could tell they put a lot of effort into it. I took my 13 and 14 year olds. We didn't find it scary but I would recommend for those with younger kids or those who get scared easier.
