We recently visited SHAR to witness the Chandrayaan-3 launch. Overall, it was a thrilling experience, but there are a few significant concerns about visitor management:

1. Lack of Shade and Water Facilities: The viewing gallery is completely exposed to the sun, making it extremely uncomfortable during sunny afternoons. There were no proper water arrangements either. If you're planning to attend a launch during a hot day, please bring an umbrella and stay hydrated, as the risk of sunstroke is high.

2. Seating and Crowd Control: There is no designated seating arrangement. When the rocket launches, many people stand up or move around, causing disturbances and blocking the view of others. The management should implement proper seating and allocate designated spots to avoid such issues.

I have visited SHAR during the Flamingo Bird Festival. You can literally enjoy driving in the middle of Pulicat Lake; it will be a wonderful experience. Maybe they won't allow you to visit SHAR; I guess you should get permission first. But anyway, you can enjoy the drive and visit the bird sanctuary to learn about the types of birds that visit. Try to go in the evening if you have time. Drone shots will be great. A trip to SHAR will surely give you goosebumps.

ISRO's primary satellite launching centre, SHAR is situated on a barrier island between the picturesque Pulicat lake and the Bay of Bengal.

Satish Dhawan Space Center is the main and only Space Station and Launching system of India , in India. It's located on the Pulicat Lake Island. It hosts the Sounding rocket and launching pad complexes of The ISRO. It has its base station and two launching pads for space research and satellite related works.

If you're planning to witness a rocket launch When there's one, you need to register yourself on ISRO's website. I would also advice you to look for a stay in Sullurupeta as it's the closest town to SHAR. Also major cities like Tirupati/Chennai are about 1.5 hours away.

ISRO must be thoroughly applauded for all their efforts into such magnificent and prestigious space endeavours over the past few decades. Now they're trying to get the common public interested in these space projects through the newly opened Viewing Gallery, where you can just sit back and watch the grandeur of a rocket launch into the outer stretches of our planet. I was lucky to witness the launch of PSLV-C46 and it was one of the finest moments of my life. They also have more projects underway such as the space museum, so just stay tuned for all these great things to come.

Had an amazing experience whilst being present for the launch of ADITYA L1 on the 2nd of Sep!! The experience was surreal and was really a humbling moment! WAY TO GO India and its space program!!
