Only go to visit this Mount Sinai affiliation practice if you know for sure your insurance is in-network and you get every single bill you pay here in an itemized receipt. My husband when to see Dr. Tianyi Lu regarding stomach pain/discomfort and recommended he get an outpatient procedure with Mount Sinai. Her office quoted an average price that he would pay for outpatient at the hospital and he paid a downpayment for the procedure in advance, they did NOT mention the extra $1500 cost for a hospital bill. When he called about the procedure in advance AND when he went in for the procedure he reconfirmed the costs when checking in at Mount Sinai regarding the over $500 that he already paid and the balance he was quoted of another $500-$600, they said it was not a problem. When we received the bill, not only was the payment we gave initially missing in our deductible when we received the insurance bill, but the fee we were told it would cost was over $1500 MORE than what was discussed and quoted to him. I WOULD NOT TRUST THE BILL/COST information this practice gives you regarding any procedure outside of their office. Get any information they give your regarding the cost of a procedure of outpatient at another location typed and written on paper or in an email. AND get everything you pay here on an itemized receipt. No one will help you after you leave that office. After the outpatient visit, whether the labs are inconclusive or not, their billing departments will just shrug their shoulder and "whatever" about the cost/fees, which for you may be a lot of money, even if not for them and with no answers to your medical problems.
Because there are clear issues with the healthcare system, offices like this should be more aware of how the billing practice run when their patients need clear communication of costs, so they can decide if a procedure is worth the cost or if they should go to a different non-hospital affiliated office for this kind of non-invasive procedure.
